Q and I were vaguely concerned by the question "Are we better than Metal Mound, or is Metal Mound better than us?" So last night, Q had us forming a list of their top five songs. We came up with five, but threw in the sixth because the fifth best song of a band is sooooclose to their sixth best that you have to link them, often like the letters AE. Below you will see Agent Q's scientific mind at work. Next to each song title in the left hand column, he has placed a number ranking the song in order of excellence. 1 being best. In the right hand column, Occupant's contenders for best material in our catalogue to-date, ranked accordingly. Now, pitting #6 against #6 he asked:
Country Eyes vs Stock Boy? It was deemed a tie. Loving Cup by Metal Mound vs Vampirical Despot by Occupant? Loving Cup by a hair. Glammer Girl vs. Cookie Comes Down? The latter, the winner. We tied in another round, and then each won one more round, therefore both teams earned two points. Fact is, Metal Mound = Occupant.

Now the question was put towards Occupant vs. Agent Q's favorite songs in the world. You'll notice Agent Q wrote down "Miserable Lie" (Smiths) as the top song, which beat, hands down, Q's best effort to date which is The Next Bus. I surmise his projected results along this trend were so staggeringly apparent, he stopped, placed his tea cup on the page, and thought about something else.

Agent Q certainly awakened me to the troubling new tastes of his generation when he selected "The Trouble With Gals" as #2 in the MM catalogue, stating "the piece is brilliant." I cut myself a braggart's portion of humble pie and picked away at it as I mulled over the political motivations for Q's opinion. (Did he mean "brilliant" as in "it's stupid and i'm brilliant to let it go without harsh criticism, ergo it's brilliant wink wink?) I admit to Wilhelmina Cruickshank that there were two different top 6 lists when the comparitive notes were made but for the sake of freshness and irony we've posted the list which includes the much ignored effort by Mr. Abdul.
