The Cosima Sessions and the Fabdul Sessions have injected volume into the Occupant Catalogue, now at 56, and we're filling up a lot of cassettes with material which ranges from surreal, a word which pops to mind whenever one tries to describe the oddness of incongruent forms pastiched together in a spirit of irreverence and pretension, to workmanlike. Fabdul sessions are lyric-driven and more ambitiously rock-orientated than Occupant Original as a duo. There's a D&D flavour here for sure. With Cosima (whose name is so cool we don't even have to ramp it up) the material is theatrical and textured liberally with bits of insane non-sequitors. Example: "Goldfish Bowl". This piece features a little girl observing and speculating on the quality of life of her pet gold fish then abruptly shifts into a rendition of twinkle twinkle sung in chicken cluck, then back to the child's verse, and over to chicken/twinkle once more. Cognitive dissonance ensues. "Man of Meat" is a cathartic and primitive outburst about voracious meat consumption using drum, Beer Man voice, and Rock a Bye Baby played on the harp. "I will take a blood bath! - You can do the math- One plus beef is Me!" And the cautionary "Arboreal Murder" warns those who are heading out today to fell a tree, so they can get a better view of their real estate, that they Shall Ne'er Feel the Shade of Her Sisters' Boughs Ever Again!!
Nello Bauschlosser, our locksmith, has stated that he knows how to get tapes onto MP3s so it looks like we should have Occupant songs up and airborne soon. Please check in from time to time and see if I'm just whistling dixie.
