Stella's Lyric Log: Edition Ten - Hiatus Days

Don't Go Askin Stoo

Don't go askin Alice
When yer feelin ten feet tall
Don't go askin Peter
When you're supposed to talk to Paul
Don't go askin favours
If ye don't wanna be a pest
And don't go askin' Stoo
About the eggs in yer nest

Don't go Askin Questions
When ya really want to tell
And don't go askin me
To ring yer steeple bell

Last Friday we had a technical glitch that I think sullied the spirit of the Occupant modus operandi. We recorded "Colossus," our Kinks tune, and then acknowledged that we were at rest.

Q is bored now. "Bored" is a term "teens" use when they are in retrograde. There is movement, and it's not as sullen as it sounds. It is a phase of the spheres like a "contraction." So this is our hiatus time. Oxford: Hiatus n. break or gap, esp. in a series, account, or chain of proof; break between two vowels coming together not in the same syllable, as in though oft the ear [L,= gaping (hiare gape)]

However a number of fresh songs are percolating in preparation for May First, the end of Occupant's Hiatus and the beginning of
Phase 2: Burrowing.

Rummy Brown (in the style of Li'l Brown Jug)

Glad day Rummy Brown
Sing whatcher singin
Way uptown

Moonlight on Rummy Brown
Pull up a barrel chair
and some Royal Crown

It's always the 50s
For Rummy Brown
Knotty Pine
and Evening Gown

I Am Of Age

I am about ten
In between twenty
Goin on thirty
Underneath seventy

I'm allaboutit
Got bags of cheese
About my saddle-bent
Rusted out knees

I've got the quality
To hold my drink
To be a fogwadded ampule
And Elect to stink

I shop at Moore's
Get three suits for me
At the price of one
Where i shopped formerly

Walkin around full of age
Like the stuff that makes you crinkle
Glad to be up here now
Way up in the twinkle twinkle

----

Jasper

In a world before mania
When fellas wore suits
And soda was taken
In upholstered booths
There was a painter
Working in his loft
With waxes and flags
And the cigarette waft
He painted for pleasure
It wasn't a gag
He was private
And not out for swag
What's an object
That nobody sees
A flag, a number
A puzzling piece
Keeping the focus
On the non-event
Seems to create
The establishment
And still without trying
to figure that out
He walked through the motions
For others to tout
Try not to try
USA
The stars and the stripes
Were yesterday

New songs for May:
  1. Haircuttin'
  2. Glorious from the Ground, Up
  3. Rummy Brown
  4. Consecutive Executives
  5. Explain Ether to Me
  6. A death in the family
  7. Kentucky Park
  8. Baby Bonnet
  9. Jasper
  10. Tendrils and Lepidoptera
  11. Chain of proof
  12. I am of age
  13. Don't go askin Stoo

Rock can be inert and still do its job.
